A woman hiker and I caught a 9:00 AM shuttle back to Hog Camp Gap, which is where I was picked up yesterday to go into Buena Vista. My pack and contents where cleaned and sorted. I also added the provisions received the day before. With water added, my pack was heavy. Plus, the great Italian dinner I had the night before was heavy in my stomach. I did not sleep well. I was not looking forward to the day’s hike. Fortunately, there were no big climbs until the end of the day when I went up to 3,800 feet to reach this shelter.
So, the day’s hike began, and it was uneventful. There weren’t even any good views because the terrain stayed mostly at a low altitude. I reached the shelter at 5:15 PM and took one of two spots left. After dinner, it was bedtime. Tomorrow there are two of the biggest climbs, so far, waiting for me. More on that tomorrow.
