Mile 904.0

Miles Hiked 8.2
I crossed the 900 mile mark today. My friend the Whipper Willow was back last night singing his song. I hate that bird.
I’m getting lazy. It’s either that or I don’t want this hike to end. Today was a very short day. I thought it would rain more in the morning, but the heaviest rain ended by 8:00 AM. Still I hung around the last shelter until 9:30 before I started hiking for the day. My target was the next shelter, which would make the day’s hike short.
I arrived at the hut just before 2:00 PM and was surprised to see Flash Daddy there. I thought he was behind me. His daughter, Lady Bug, showed up a little later. Also, Mobley was there with his partner, Dante. They were about to embark on another nighttime excursion to find bears. Mobley’s partner was convinced he could hike faster if he didn’t wear underwear, so he took them off and burned them. I remember years ago we used to call guys like that “space cadets.”
I set up my sleeping bag and took a short nap, which is a first for me. Afterwards I planned out a few days. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the next shelter. I’ll be slowing down the hike somewhat as the end nears. I should be in Harper’s Ferry within two weeks.
