Last night at the Bearfence Hut was a nightmare.  An older woman staying at the shelter made herself the center of every conversation. Very irritating.  Then someone asked if anyone in the shelter snored and of course she raises her hand.  Yes, my sleeping bag was right next to her sleeping bag.

So the night did not go well.  Not only did she snore, but she tossed and turned on the noisiest sleeping pad ever.  To make matters worse, the guy next to me snored and had a noisy sleeping pad.  Suffice it to say I got no sleep.

I was up before 6:00 AM thanks to another woman who had to have coffee before 6:00.  I packed up and was out of the shelter by 6:45 AM.  I hope I never see any of them again.

With my tail dragging, I hiked on to Big Meadow Wayside where I met Flash Daddy and his daughter, Lady Bug.  We had a nice brunch and just hung around for a while.  Later, I got back on the trail in search of a posted Trail Magic.  I found it on the north end of the Big Meadow Campground.

Trail Magic occurs when people give food and drinks to hikers.  These people had a big spread of beer, soda, hiker snacks, hot dogs, fruit, salad, etc.  Of course I ate again.  A bunch of hikers hung out for about an hour before we all left.

Going down the trail I met a new friend.  This deer just stood in my path and stared before taking off.

I reached the next shelter about 4:00 PM.  I had promised myself I would setup a tent tonight after what happened last night.  However, it started raining, so I’m in the shelter again.  We’ll see how that works out.
