Woke up early at the Eckville Shelter,  but I hung around awhile.  The plan is to only go to the next shelter.  I’m close to the end of my hike, and unless I slow down, I’ll be sitting around for a couple of days before my plane takes off.

While I was at the shelter, a guy came in who owns a hostel in Palmerton, PA.  We talked a bit, and I found out he also does shuttles, so I can use him to get to the airport in Allentown.

At 11:00 AM I left the shelter and headed out north still thinking about the guy who owns the hostel.  Now I’m formulating plans to stay at the hostel multiple days and finish my hike with a couple of days of slackpacking.  I’ll have to discuss it with him when I get to Palmerton.

Those rocks are the trail. Ugh!

The weather has turned even colder today.  It rained last night, and it was in the mid -40’s this morning.  As I begin hiking, the temperature is barely over 50 degrees.   Clearly a case of “be careful what you wish for…”

The terrain was as rocky as ever, and I really got slowed down on the trail.  I reached the shelter at 4:30.  There was only one hiker at the shelter but she had a tent setup.  I thought I might be by myself, but a couple of SOBO through hikers came in after dark.  I hope they don’t snore.
