Mile 1,158.2
Elevation 1,132.0 feet
Miles Hiked 15.0
I left the last shelter at 8:15 AM. The goal for the day is 15 miles and if there are any rocks, it will be a difficult day of hiking.
The first part of the day was a short descent down to the town of Duncannon. Once in town, I stopped at a convenience store for a quick meal. The trail goes through the heart of the town, so it was interesting and something different.
Once out of town, the trail went up to a mountain ridgeline and stayed there. There were rock scrambles with which to deal, and they really slowed me down.
I arrived at the shelter about 5:45 PM. No one else was there. Water was 300 feet down a steep slope. If I hadn’t run out of water, I wouldn’t have bothered but I had so I went. When I got back a SOBO through hiker, trail name Shep, walked into the shelter with his dog. He needed water, too and he was not happy about the climb.
The company was good to have and we both turned in before 9:00 PM. It will be another long day tomorrow.
