I broke camp and was on my way by 7:30 AM. My stealth campsite gave me the ability to get on the trail immediately. I met another hiker early in the day and we took each other’s picture.
About seven miles into the day’s hike, I arrived at the Bear Mountain Resort. This is a really nice resort with an inn, lake, some amusement rides and many hiking trails. It was a nice change of scenery for me. I drank free water and bought Poweraide drinks. I must have drank three liters of liquids by the time I was off the resort grounds. My hike continued through a small zoo. I thought that was strange that the Appalachian Trail would go through a zoo, but there you have it. After the zoo, I crossed a long bridge over the Hudson River. I lost my bandanna and I think that’s where I lost it because it was so windy. RATS!
Graymoor Spiritual Life Center is run by the Franciscan order. They let hikers camp on the ball field and that’s where I am tonight along with a handful of other hikers.
