I left the last shelter at almost 9:00 AM. The first part of the day was downhill, but the rocks and boulders made it anything but easy. After a couple of hours, I reached the Lonesome Lake Hut. If there is any food left after the breakfast serving, through hikers get it for free. I had a plate of cold scrambled eggs. I would never eat cold leftovers at home. It’s amazing what I can tolerate on the trail.
After my second breakfast, I continued on with my hike. Soon the trail hit 1,400 feet and then went up to 5,200 feet – all rocks. It slowed me to about 1/2 mile per hour. It was tough going, but I finally reached the campsite at 5:30 PM. I setup my tent on a platform, ate dinner and then went to sleep.
