Riz and I left the hotel at 7:00 AM. The air conditioning last night didn’t work that well, and it turns out the hotel knew it before we checked in. I raised hell about it hoping they would comp us a second night, but the desk clerk told us only the manager could do that, but we couldn’t wait for the manager to come in.
The day had three separate 1,000 mile ascents, which was difficult considering the temperature was in the mid-90’s. Despite the heat and climbs we arrived at the shelter at 5:30 PM. I pitched a tent for the night and that was it for the day.
