Yesterday was a long day. I was up at 3:30 AM to catch a JetBlue flight at 7:10. The plane was on time and landed at Boston’s Logan Airport a little after 10 AM. I took the Silver Line bus to the South Station Transportation Terminal where I had a five hour layover before the Concord Bus departed for Gorham.
The layover gave me a chance to walk around Boston a bit, so I stored my pack at the terminal and went out the door into a light drizzle. Boston’s Chinatown was only a couple of blocks away, and that’s where I went. After walking around for awhile, I stopped in at a Chinese restaurant for a nice dinner.
More walking outside of Chinatown left me with the impression of just another large city with a lot of tall buildings. It was interesting nevertheless.
The bus left at 4:30 PM in a light rain. The traffic was bumper to bumper for nearly two hours before we started moving at highway speeds. The schedule had my arrival in Gorham at 8:30 PM – in my dreams. We arrived at 10 PM. Fortunately the hotel was right across the street from where the bus dropped me off. That was one long day.
Today, I slept in and then ran a few errands. I’m heading to Pinkham Notch tomorrow morning to continue my hike north.
