I stopped short of my original distance goal and decided to camp by a creek. I pitched my tent in a great area near the creek. It was perfect!
So far the Trail has been easy when compared to the Appalachian Trail. Even so, there was a big ascent to the Craig Creek campsite.
There wasn’t much to see today. Most of today’s hike was through open trail and burned out forest. One thing is for sure. This isn’t the Appalachian Trail.
This morning at 8 AM I started the 488 mile Colorado Trail. The first 6 miles of the trail were through Waterton Canyon. It was nothing more than a road walk.
The Colorado Trail is a 486-mile trail, running from Waterton Canyon near Denver to Durango. It’s known for its scenery and challenging high-altitude terrain.
If everything goes according to plan, I’ll start hiking the Colorado Trail by the end of June 2020. Watch for future blog posts as I hike the trail.
