Started about 7:30 and the hike took me up but not too bad. Actually most of the morning was a nice flat walk. I even had time to shoot a short video.
This trail is nothing like the Appalachian Trail. The AT is very social because of the many towns close to the trail and the presence of trail shelters, which tend to attract hikers with certain water. Most times campsites are full or nearly so on the AT. You can sleep in a shelter if you choose to do it, and there are always other hikers in the shelters. On the Colorado Trail, there are no shelters and whatever campsites are available tend to be sparsely populated in comparison to the AT.

I stopped short of my original distance goal and decided to camp by a creek. I pitched my tent in a great area near the creek. It was perfect! No other campers made things quiet. I’ll get a good night’s sleep here.
