Tony's Hiking Adventure

The Colorado Trail

Miles Hiked 16.8
Elevation 6,106
Hiked Today 16.8

This morning at 8 AM I started the 485 mile Colorado Trail.  The first 6 miles of the trail were through Waterton Canyon.  It was nothing more than a road walk.  Nevertheless, it was an interesting hike.  I saw a rattlesnake and a herd of big horn sheep.

Once through Wateron Canyon, the trail started going up.  I got behind a couple of young ladies as I went down the trail and we talked until we got to a camp and water source.  They were spending the night there, so I visited a while longer before continuing.

The weather forecast called for thunderstorms and ominous clouds and thunder were moving in. I put on my foul weather gear and kept going. As it turned out, there were only a few sprinkles.

I made it to camp about 5:30 and set up my tent and had dinner. Later, a couple of hikers came into camp and set up their tent about 10 feet from mine. They then proceeded to talk until midnight and of course they kept me up. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow.
