Hiking the Superstition Wilderness

AZT Map Miles 457.8
Miles Hiked 447.5
Elevation 4,678 feet
Miles Hiked Today 11.8

I overslept a bit and didn’t get off until 7 AM. I had wanted to start right at first light to maximize the daylight time, so I could hit my mileage target for the day.  It didn’t matter.

While the trail itself was easier because there was no nail biting, cliff edge hiking, the day was very strenuous anyway.  Total elevation gain exceeded 3,500 feet.  The trail was rocky as it always is.  This thwarted attempts to set a quick pace especially on the descents.  Me and rocks just don’t get along.  So the day ended at almost 12 miles.  My target was 15 miles.  Very frustrating.

I’m in the Superstition Wilderness.
