The day started off with a 1,500 foot elevation gain. After Mount Baden-Powell yesterday, I was not ready for this. My legs still had not recovered from the previous days strenuous climb in snow to the summit. It didn’t make a difference, though. The mountain had to be climbed.
Even after reaching the summit of Mount Williamson, there were more smaller elevation gains. It was just going to be one of those days. Mike and Steve were both climbing with me, although I had a hard time keeping up with them.
Later that morning, we came upon an area that is closed due a protected frog being in the area. Steve and I did a road walk of around three miles before we joined a side trail that would eventually connect to the PCT.
Mike was nowhere to be found up to this point. As we reached a campground, Mike came strolling into the campground. Apparently, he made a wrong turn and picked up the wrong trail. Now all three of us headed to a water source to fill up and eat lunch.
After lunch, we went up a 1,000 feet. That just about killed me. We were on our way to Camp Glenwood for the night. Just before the camp, we crossed the 400 PCT mile mark. Only 300 more miles to Kennedy Meadows.
