Leaving Washington Alpine Club

PCT Map Miles 270.5
Miles Hiked 142.8
Elevation 3,668 feet
Miles Hiked Today 11.4

Yesterday was a Zero Day, which means no hiking.  I spent the time cleaning gear, picking up my supplies for the next part of my hike and just hanging out at the Washington Alpine Club.  Today I head out and leave the Washington Alpine Club and head for White Pass, which will be my next stop.  There is a fire reported not too far from the Pacific Crest Trail near White Pass.  I’m hoping that doesn’t detour my hike like what happened up at Harts Pass.

The information on this part of the trail is that there are no big elevation gains.  Still, the trail went up almost 1,500 feet today.  I could have done without that.  On the plus side there were only two small sections that were filled with skree.  Nevertheless, the trail was still rocky, and I twisted my right foot numerous times, and I’m paying for it tonight.

There were a lot of hikers at the Washington Alpine Club when I left, and I thought for sure most of them would be passing me on the trail.  However the only hikers that passed me were day hikers.  It was kind of strange not seeing the other PCT hikers.

The target for today was 10 miles, and I did a little bit over that.  I had trouble finding a campsite where I wanted to pitch a tent and so I went further.  Tomorrow, I hope to do at least 15 miles and hold that pace to White Pass.
