Making a Push for Snoqalmie Pass

PCT Map Miles 238.0
Miles Hiked 110.3
Elevation 3,245 feet
Miles Hiked Today 15.4

At various times during the day, I talked with Mya and Jack about getting to Snoqualmie Pass.  Both were set on reaching it tomorrow, but if they do, I won’t be with them.  We have 21 miles to go to reach the Pass and a 3,000 foot elevation gain climb. That’s just something I cannot do.

In the morning, I left my Lake Waptus campsite and hiked up to the PCT.  I reached the trail at 7:00 a.m.  Things started out easy but then the trail went up about 2,000 ft.  There are so many rocks on the trail that it is very difficult to build any speed.  The rocks are also hurting my feet and causing me to twist my ankles.  I hate rocks.

At about 1:00 p.m. I reached the summit of the elevation gain and the trail started going down.  The target for today is 16 miles, and I should come close to that target.

I reached a campsite at 5:00 p.m.  both Jack, Mya and her daughter were there already.  All in all, not a bad day.
