Last night was one of frustration.  The cabin had this nice fire going on a stove.  It would warm up the whole cabin.  Nope.  There were three girls who wanted the door open otherwise it would get too hot. What am I missing here?  If they didn’t want to be warm, why weren’t they in a tent instead?  I’ll never understand women.

After a cold restless night, I got out of the cabin quick and got on the trail.  It was foggy and misty occasionally but not bad.  I had trouble getting going.  It was like all my power was gone.  My tail really dragged.  To make matters worse, I tripped on a branch lying across the trail and went down.  Just as I did, a group of women hikers came up on me.  Wonderful. I screwed up my hip in the fall, which just made things worse as I hiked.

Later in the afternoon, it started to rain.  I had a couple of miles to go to get to a campsite.  I arrived just before 5:00 PM, and set up my tent.  That turned out to be a challenge.  When I rolled it out, it had gotten twisted from a prior night’s use.  So now I’m trying to straighten it out in the rain and everything is getting wet inside and out.  Finally, I have the tent up and I get inside, strip my clothes off and get into my sleeping bag.  I have hypothermia and I’m shaking badly.  I stayed in my sleeping bag for a couple of hours, but finally I was okay, made dinner and ate.

A lot of hikers stopped at this campsite and the tents were jammed in there.  There were at least seven tents where there should have been space for only three.

I was okay for the night but I really regretted the day that I sent my long wool undershirt back home.  I could have really used it that night
