Miles Hiked 27.1
PCT Mile 57.7
Elevation 6,155 feet
Miles Hiked Today 14.5
I was up and ready to go at 6:45. Ben left about ten minutes before me. It is unlikely I’ll see him until the end of the day.
On tap for today is a big climb. We are going up to 6,500 feet and then a little later, over 7,000 feet. This is going to be hard since this is only the second day that I’m on the trail. I won’t get my trail legs for at least another two weeks. Fortunately, the trail started easy but then it started going up. As it happened, there was a total of 3,329 feet of elevation gain today.
To say I was dragging would be an understatement. I started the day at a 2-mile per hour pace but that declined as the day went on to about 1 and 1/2 mile per hour.
Ben was planning to stop and camp at Cut Throat Pass, but I was dubious about that plan. At the end of the day I passed Cut Throat Pass, and Ben wasn’t there. He was at the next camp site where I joined him.
The big climbs today wore me out. Tomorrow is supposed to be easier. I hope so. I have to recover.

havent heard from you… are u ok?
are you still in washington?
Hi! Yes, I’m still in Washington hiking the northern part of the Pacific Crest Trail. I did not have a cell signal from the day I started 2 weeks ago until today. I’m in Yakima, WA right now taking a breather before heading to Trout Lake. I’m skipping a section of the trail, which I did last year. There were fires in Washington and I missed a couple of sections last year. After I finish Washington, if I feel good, I’ll go on to do Oregon. Thank you for your comments and following my adventure. I’m hoping to upload about 10 days of my blog within the next day or two
my relief that your ok—started to worry about you!
Ah, you know me. Hard to kill! I’ve updated my blog except for yesterday and should have that done by late this afternoon. Thanks for following.
