Yesterday was spent updating my blog. It just about took the entire day. Today, it’s onward from Yakima, WA to Trout Lake, WA. I hitchhiked from Stevens Pass to Leavenworth on Friday but could not secure a room. Yakima is on the way to Trout Lake, so here I am and here I go.
My first hitchhike ride was from three 20 somethings who drove me about 30 miles to highway 97, the road I needed to be on for Trout Lake. Then Gary, 30 something, took me all the way down to I-84, which was quite a ways. Highway 14 going west was closed due to a fire, so I-84 it was to the Hood River Bridge. A SUV drove me across the bridge, and a guy from Ghana drove me to Trout Lake. All in all, the hitchhike went way better than I expected.
The town moved the campground from behind the General store to a park about 1/2 mile away. I didn’t like the distance from town, so I got a spot at trail angel, Joanna. She has a camper with two beds. It’s not ideal if I get a snoring roommate, but it’s good enough.
Tomorrow, I start hiking SOBO again.
