I was up and on the way by 6:45 a.m. Today should be somewhat easier than the day before. The trail first went up, but then for the rest of the day the trail went down. The hiking was much easier with the descending trail. Although blowdowns (dead, fallen trees on the trail) are of concern, on this section of the trail there were not that many.
Despite the fact that the trail was easier, I had not recovered fully from the previous day’s grueling 3,900 ft ascent. Things were slow going as I tried to recover while hiking. I might point out that I was not successful.
While on the trail, a large group of teenagers were hiking with an adult supervisor. They started asking questions about what I was doing, and I answered best I could. I guess we have some future through hikers in that crowd.
At the end of this day. I reached Suiattle Bridge. Ben was there holding a tent spot for me so I climbed down under the bridge and pitched my tent. For once I got nice flat ground for the tent. No slipping and sliding in the tonight.
Even though the trail was relatively easy, I was worn out. I still had not recovered from the previous day’s hike.
