The “PCT Mile” is not being reported while I’m going northbound. I will resume reporting it when I resume my southbound direction.
I slept well in trail angel Joanna’s camper. Fortunately, there were no other people who took advantage of the other bed in the camper, so I was alone.
The Trout Lake shuttle was ready to go at 8:00 and they loaded quite a few hikers for the trip to the trailhead. We arrived at 8:45 a.m. and I took off northbound to cover a section of the trail that I missed last year due to fires.
The plan is to hike all the way to Forest service road 5603. That’s the trailhead where we were stopped last year because of the fire that was burning. I’m not very fond of the prospect of having to hike 22 miles from the Trout Lake trailhead to FS 5603 and then turn around and go back the way I came. Tomorrow when I reach FS 5603, I’m going to see if I can get a ride into Trout Lake.

One good thing if I do have to hike back to the Trout Lake trail head is the trail will be mostly descending. I know this because the trail pretty much went up all day.
