There were some things I had to do to get ready for the trail today, so Rick picked me up at 10:00 a.m. Our first stop was the post office where I did get my provision package. We then headed for Bluebell, and I had a big omelet breakfast before getting on the trail.

I was on the trail by around 12:30 p.m. . It immediately went up but not very far before it leveled out.  After that the trail was pretty easy for the rest of the time that I hiked in the afternoon. There were fewer rocks and only small ascents.

I made good time and reached the junction to the shelter at 4:15 p.m.. Then there was a 6/10 of a mile climb down to the shelter. It took me 25 minutes. Had I known it was going to take that long and was that far, I would have stayed on the trail and found a campsite. However now that I’m here, I’m glad I am. This is one of the nicest shelters that I have stayed at and it has a beautiful view of a creek. Water is there if I need it, but right now I have plenty.

Note.  When I got back on the trail today it was close to the Bluebell Country Store, instead of where I was picked up the day before. Consequently, my miles hiked no longer correspond to the mile listed in the navigation app Far Out. So, I added another “miles hiked” line.
