Mile 649.2
Elevation 3,376
Miles Hiked 15.7
Creak and I took a zero day (no hiking) yesterday, May 13. It was a day to get cleaned up and rest. Today, we headed out at 8:00 AM. The plan was to stop at a campsite almost 15 miles down the trail.
The first part of the hike included an 800 foot elevation gain and then a 1,200 elevation gain right after that. The day of rest didn’t make the climbs any easier. After seven miles we stopped at a shelter for lunch and then moved on. The second part of the hike was particularly tough due to all the rocks and boulders in the trail.
We finally reached the campsite a little after 5:00 PM. We pitched our tents, ate dinner and turned in by 7:30 PM. Nothing exciting – just a long arduous day.
