Jukebox and I spent a good night at the Big Walker Motel.  It’s not your typical dive of a place, and I enjoyed the short stay.    Nevertheless, it was time to go.  Jukebox was going to be picked up by a relative and taken to their home for a little R&R.  I on the other hand intended to get back on the trail.

At 8:30 Bubba, the shuttle driver, picked me up at the motel.  We had a conversation about how he lost his business phone number and his fight to regain it.  He failed in his attempt and now some nasty dude who refused to give the phone number back is getting all sorts of calls for shuttle rides he cannot supply.  Serves him right.

Bubba dropped me off at the trailhead and didn’t charge me for the ride.  What a guy!  And so my day started.

Here is the extent of the wildlife I’ve seen if you don’t count the birds who won’t stay still for a picture.

It was a quiet day, and I didn’t see too many other hikers.  About 3:00, I hiked into the Jenny Knob Shelter.  There was only one other section hiker at the shelter and another arrived shortly thereafter.  It began to look like I was going to be in the shelter by myself since the two section hikers setup hammocks,  but just before 7:00, five more hikers arrived.  Three decided to use the shelter and two set up a tent.  Now, from the looks of things, it may be a noisy night.

I’ve got to start using my tent.
