Mile 247.5
Elevation 2,828
Miles Hiked 6.9
Another short day to Groundhog Creek Shelter. With new provisions picked up at Standing Bear Farm and a lot of water making my pack extra heavy, I decided not to go any further than 7 miles. It was supposed to rain, too, so it seems like the right move. The day’s hike included a climb up Snowbird Mountain. It was approximately 2,500 ft up for 4 1/2 miles. A real brutal climb. There are pictures below.
As it turns out, rain started around 5:00 PM and continued through the night. Fortunately, I stayed in the shelter, so I don’t have to deal with a wet tent in the morning.
It seems I picked up “something” at Standing Bear Farm. It required several trips to a really nasty privy at Groundhog Creek Shelter. I’m not happy about this.
