Woke up at Siler Bald Shelter this morning and headed out to Burning-town Gap, which is about 11 miles. The plan is to go to the Nantahala Mountain Lodge where I’ll stay for at least three nights. While there I’m going to slackpack over three days on the way to Fontana, which is about 43 miles. After that the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.
By the way, the Nantahala Mountain Lodge is a class place – not like the dives some of the hostels have been. It’s a good place to stay before the grueling trek through the Smokey’s.
