Mile 81.4
Elevation 4,562
Miles Hiked 11.8
I left the Top of Georgia Hostel and started north again at Dick’s Creek Gap. I decided to do 12 miles to a shelter to spend the night. It was supposed to rain all night and the next day. I crossed over into North Carolina at 3:55 PM, and I got to the shelter around 6 PM and it started raining as I was setting up the tent. After a quick freeze dried meal, I turned in for the night.
It rained all night and into the afternoon of the next day. I knew the rain was coming so I decided to take a “zero” day the next day. In hiker parlance that means no hiking. I will mostly hang out at the shelter, build a campfire and try to stay warm.
