First, let’s talk about last night at Clear Creek. What a zoo. The campsite I picked out by the creek was idyllic. However, that night the nearby public camp ground came alive. Dogs were barking, young children were playing and screaming at the top of their lungs until midnight. Then the adults took over with loud music and a lot of yelling until the early hours of the morning. Talk about a prescription to ruin a night.
I left the campground at 7:30 AM and headed for an approximately 2,700 foot climb. It lasted for miles and took me all morning. There was a brief decent and back up again for 1,500 feet. This all made for a tough day. I put into a campsite early, 4 PM. I was done for the day. About thirty minutes later a female hiker, Gena, came in and put her tent up across from mine. Gena is an older woman who is thru-hiking the trail by herself. She is a really nice lady and we had some good conversations before turning in for the night.
Tomorrow, there is one big climb of 2,500 feet. It’ll be another long day.
