I was up and hiking by 6:30 AM.  I’m still concerned about my leg, but there is nothing I can do about it now.  The Mazatzal Wilderness continued on with its rock strewn big ascents and descents.  I was hoping to do about 15 miles considering the difficulty.

As 4 PM approached, my intended campsite was less than a mile away.  I just needed water at a spring first.  Then out of nowhere comes a hiker from behind and  its bright red hair female partner.  Notice I said “its” because I couldn’t tell gender.  Anyway, they setup one tent and sprawled across what should have been two tent sites.  The girl giggled when I passed what was intended to be my campsite.

I was not happy about this turn of events.  It was getting dark.  Nothing to do but keep going.  The added hike was tough enough, but to do it in the dark was not fun.  Finally on a summit, there was a sliver of ground available, so I setup my tent.  The site was not good, but it would have to do.
