Passed the 100 Mile Mark

I was up early and on my way by 7:30.  Today was going to be a long day since the plan was to hike almost 18 miles.  The trail continued along the side of low elevation mountains.  A lot of it was going up.  I have to say, it was getting monotonous.  This is the second day of similar terrain.

About noon, the trail reached the 100 mile mark.  I celebrated by stopping and eating lunch.  A little after lunch, the trail headed down and turned into a nice hike through a large meadow.  Finally, something different.

100 mile mark.

With about five miles to go, I stopped for water.  Then I tried to cross the stream by rock hopping across.  Bad move!  I fell right in the water.  That’s not a big deal.  My clothes dry fast.  However, I broke the tip of my aluminum trekking pole.  That’s never happened before.  Sure, on the Appalachian Trail I broke the tips on both poles, but they were carbon fiber.  Anyway, this is a problem, because the two piles are used to keep my tent up.

I arrived at my planned campsite.  It was huge, and there were several tents already there.  I found a spot and put up my tent with the broken pole.  It looks like it will be alright.  Tonight will tell for sure.
