Huge ant hill on the trail

Yesterday, the trail was pretty easy.  There were only a couple of skree fields, and except for a big 1500 ft elevation gain, the trail was relatively easy.  I’m looking for the same today.

First thing in the morning, a young woman hiker passed by while I was packing my campsite up.  I really expected a lot of hikers to be passing me going south today, but to my surprise nobody passed me except for the young woman.

Around noon time I came up on a trail magic event.  There were two gentlemen who had sandwiches, Gatorade, muffins, and even popsicles available for hikers.  I grabbed a Gatorade and a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that were purchased at Costco.  They were pretty good or maybe I was just really hungry.

I said my goodbyes to the fellows and continued down the trail about 12:30 p.m.  nothing much else was going on and I was making good time so there were no complaints.  As the day was ending I ran out of water.  Fortunately I found a trickle of water on the trail and was able to get two liters of nice, ice cold water.  After that I proceeded to find a good campsite and set up my tent about 6:30 p.m.  Weather forecast for tomorrow is rain, so I made sure that the tent was staked down good.  If it’s raining hard in the morning I’m just going to stay in my tent and take a zero or at least remain until the rain stops.
