There were some things I had to do to get ready for the trail today, so Rick picked me up at 10:00 a.m. from the Aqua Motel. Our first stop was the post office where I did get my provision package. We then headed for Bluebell, and I had a big omelet breakfast before getting on the trail.

I was on the trail by around 12:30 p.m. and on the way to the Bill Potter Shelter for the night. The trail immediately went up but not very far before it leveled out. After that the trail was pretty easy for the rest of the time that I hiked in the afternoon. There were fewer rocks and only small ascents.
I made good time and reached the junction to the Bill Potter Shelter at 4:15 p.m.. Then there was a 6/10 of a mile climb down to the shelter. It took me 25 minutes. Had I known it was going to take that long and was that far, I would have stayed on the trail and found a campsite. However now that I’m here, I’m glad I am. This is one of the nicest shelters that I have stayed at and it has a beautiful view of a creek. Water is there if I need it, but right now I have plenty.

Note. When I got back on the trail today it was close to the Bluebell Country Store, instead of where I was picked up the day before. Consequently, my miles hiked no longer correspond to the mile listed in the navigation app Far Out. So, I added another “miles hiked” line.
