At about 7 miles I walked out of the woods and walked over to Uncle Johnny’s hostel. I was dying for a Gatorade. Well, I had a repeat of the “wallet” incident. I couldn’t find it. After tearing my backpack apart for 45 minutes, I found the wallet and had my Gatorade. Sheesh!
Back on the trail I kept passing good water sources. I didn’t want to fill up until the last available water before the next shelter. Yep, it was dry – the last one was dry and I was out of water. A little further on I heard a stream flowing. I found it, but it was 20 meters down a vertical climb. I went for it anyway and filled up.
For the first time this shelter was just me. No other hikers came in. I got into my bag at dark and then realized how spooky it was. The wind was howling and you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. NICE!
