Another late, 9:00 AM, start to the day was on the schedule.  I wasn’t going far and wasn’t concerned about the time.  First up was four more miles of the “Roller Coaster.”  These miles were not too bad and the time and miles went fast except where there were lots of rocks (I hate rocks and they hate me).

Once the “Roller Coaster” ended, the trail became easier; although the rocks continued to frustrate me.  The weather had cooled off some, which made for more comfortable hiking.  The forecast was for rain later in the afternoon, so I kept up a good pace to beat the rain and reach the shelter early.

At just after 3:00 PM, the shelter appeared.  This is one of the nicer shelters.  It has a large porch with benches, a cooking pavilion with a swinging bench and a newer privy.

Cuisine showed up about an hour later, Waffle was already at the shelter when I arrived and a young hiker (18 years old) came in after Cuisine.  Three others set up tents.

We sat around chatting until dark and then climbed into our sleeping bags.  It never did rain.
