July 1, 2019. After a nice stay at the Rattle River Hostel, I was off by 7:30 AM. The first part of the trail was easy compared to what I hiked in the Wildcat Mountain range. The goal for the day was to hike to the Genetian Pond Shelter.
As the day wore on, the trail became increasingly difficult and I wondered if I would make the goal. Other than the difficulty level, the day was uneventful. I reached the shelter just before 7:30 PM. The tent sites were all taken and the shelter was nearly full, but I was able to snag a place and settle in for the night.
