I decided to go into Kearney today for a couple of reasons.  First, at my current pace, I’ll reach Oracle on Saturday.  I have a resupply box at the post office there, and I’m not even sure I can get a room close by until the PO opens Monday.  More importantly, though, all the rocks in the trail have finally got the better of my right foot.  I’m going to get a set of insoles to add to the ones in my boot and rest the foot for half a day.

I took off at 7 AM.  There were a bunch of little climbs, the largest being 500 feet.  My right foot was rested and I moved pretty good.  The trailhead where I leave the trail for town was reached by 11 AM.  I got a hitch-hike ride almost immediately and the driver dropped me off at the General Kearney Inn.  This is a nice, inexpensive hotel.  The room was very clean and looks like it was just renovated.

The rest of the day was spent doing laundry, a little shopping, dinner and rest.  Back to the trail tomorrow.
