It was hard to leave the comfortable Stage Stop Inn this morning, but I finally hit the trail at 8:30 AM. I decided to spend one more night camping. The problem if I went all the way to Canelo Pass Trailhead is it would be the end of the day. No one will pickup a hitchhiker at or near dark. So I’m less than 4 miles from the trailhead, and I’ll reach it tomorrow morning.
I was expecting a lot of elevation gain and many ups and downs. It was that way the first couple of hours, but then the trail smoothed out. It wasn’t a bad day hiking after all. I reached my campsite at 4 PM and setup. Tomorrow I finish for sure. Then I try to hitchhike to Tucson.
