I figured out how to get to Vail to pickup my provisions at the post office.  I ordered an Uber.  When I checked a map, I found Vail was only 6.4 miles from the hotel at which I was staying.  After getting my provisions, I started hitchhiking to the trail.  Then I checked the map again.  It was 6.5 miles to the Gabe Zimmerman Trailhead.  I stopped hitchhiking and ordered an Uber again.  I was hiking by 10:30 AM.

This will be my last week hiking.  The plan is to stop at the Canelo Pass Trailhead.  That is where I stopped my northbound hike in March after I got hurt going over Miller Peak (see March blog entries).  At the beginning of this day, Canelo Pass Trailhead is only 77 miles away.  By the way, a through hike completed within 12 months, no matter how it was done, is a legitimate through hike.

So today the trail was pretty flat and easy.  I didn’t encounter a notable ascent until late in the day.  I found a good place to camp just before 5 PM and that was it.
