Today, it’s back to the trail.  I got up early to get everything ready.  At 9:15, I walked down to the bus stop.  The bus was a little late, but I was onboard by 10:05.  The driver knew exactly where to drop me off to get to the trail, so I just left it in his hands and enjoyed the scenery as the bus carried me ever closer.

The bus didn’t go to the trailhead, so I had to get off the bus and hitchhike the rest of the way.  I was off the bus and hadn’t even put my backpack on, when an older fellow offered me a ride.  He took me and another hiker right to the trailhead.  What luck!  I was hiking by 10:45 AM.

My backpack was heavy with the new provisions obtained yesterday.  Fortunately, the trail had no big ups or downs.  As a matter of fact, it was pretty easy.   I hiked on.

Towards the end of the day, I came upon some trail magic.  It was just water and snacks.  I needed the water, so I took a couple of liters and enjoyed a bag of chips. And there was a surprise at the trail magic.  Kelly, an older male hiker who is slower than me, was sitting there.  No way he should be this far on the trail.  We talked a few minutes, and I learned he had skipped a large part of the trail when a trail angel picked him up and dropped him in Big Bear.

After a brief break, I continued on to my final destination for the day.  I did over ten miles, which for me isn’t too bad considering I started hiking at 10:45 and finished at 4:30.
