I camped last night in a nice campsite.  There were many places for tents and the ground, at least where I setup my tent, was flat with vegetation covering the spot.  Nice to get out of the dirt.

In the morning, I was ready to head out to Timberline Lodge.  The distance was just over 5 miles and there was about a 1,500 foot ascent.  In case anyone is keeping score, that makes approximately 6,500 feet of elevation gain in a 24-hour period.

Along the way, I had to ford another stream.  My socks are still wet from yesterday.  You can’t win.  I was able to rock hop across the stream with only my feet getting wet.  A small victory.

Another stream crossing.

The trail was full of day hikers and “loop” hikers.  The loop from the lodge is about 40 miles, which means those hikers will be camping on the trail.

So, I dodged day and loop hikers all the way to the resort.  The first sighting of the lodge was the ski lifts.  This is a major ski resort at Mount Hood.  Then the lodge itself came into view.

Once there, I washed up and then got breakfast.  While I can’t say hiker hunger has kicked in yet, I had no trouble finishing a large breakfast.

After breakfast, I got a nice couch seat in the lodge sitting room.  Right next to the couch was an outlet to which I plugged in and charged my phone and battery pack. There wasn’t much else to do until that finished, so I just hung out and relaxed.

Late in the afternoon, I put my backpack on and hiked .1 mile to a campsite.  The option is there to have breakfast at the lodge tomorrow, but right now, I’m thinking I’ll take off early and try to make some miles.
