Golden Oaks Spring
I came upon a spring and filled up. I drank 2 liters and drank another on the way to Golden Oaks Spring. I arrived at 1 PM and declared this is camp tonight.

Leaving Tehachapi: The forecast was for temperatures to climb to 100 degrees by afternoon. TThe next confirmed water is 25 miles away.
I’m leaving the Sure Stay Best Western and traveling home to take care of a personal emergency. The first leg of the trip starts at the Kern Transit bus stop.

June 15 was a zero day, which means no hiking. Actually, I’m done with the PCT for now. I have a personal emergency at home

I stuck out my thumb to hitchhike to the Sure Stay Best Western hotel. I got picked up immediately by a trail angel who first took me on a tour of the town.
Something I ate at Hiker Town bothered me all day, and then it got worse last night. Fortunately, I am approaching Tehachapi, and I’ll recover in a hotel room.

I left Hiker Town at 7 AM this morning for a long hike across the desert floor. The hike was interesting since it passed the LA aqueduct.

The trail continued to be lightly forested, and it was nice to view something other than sand cliffs. The target was to reach Hiker Town.

Most of the trees on the trail were burned and dead but trees just the same. California should declare California’s state plant – the dead tree.
During the hike today, I became acutely aware of the boredom on the trail. Whatever there is to see in the desert, I think I’ve already seen it.
