I reached the Brushy Creek Mountain Shelter at 4:00 p.m. . That gives me some time to do a few things before I make dinner and go to bed.

Wow! Was it cold last night at the? I didn’t get out of my sleeping bag and head for the Turner Gap Shelter until almost 8:00 a.m. .

I’m on my way to the Foran Gap Shelter. When planning, there were days that I intended to do as much as 18 miles. Now, I’ve decided to go shelter to shelter.

I called the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge to see if they had any rooms available. Nothing. Nevertheless, I was going to head for the lodge anyway and get breakfast.

At the end of the day the trail went up 1,400 feet. So,I made it to the State Line shelter. I arrived while it was still light out.

I made it to the Pashubbe Shelter. That was the goal that I set yesterday, but wasn’t very optimistic that I would make it due to the condition of the trail.

Here I am at Holson Valley Shelter. This was not the plan for the day. I left the Rock Garden Shelter at 7:00 a.m. and began hiking.

Today I’m heading for Fort Smith Arkansas and finally the Ouachita Trail. I have wanted to try out this trail for sometime.

The Ouachita Trail is a 223-mile National Recreation Trail that runs through the Ouachita Mountains of Oklahoma and Arkansas.

My Washington hike was over, and mentally, I was ready for the over 400 miles hike through Oregon. In fact, I was anxiously looking forward to it.
