First Full Day from Stevens Pass
Today is the first full day from Stevens Pass. Before Meander dropped us off yesterday, he said this section was as hard or harder than hiking the Sierra.

Myself and four others are waiting for Meander’s return, so he can drive us to Stevens Pass. We are skipping 125 miles of trail due to fire closures and alerts.
A Zero Day at the Lion’s Den while a group of hikers and me figure out what to do with the trail closed due to a fire south of Rainy Pass.
Evacuated from the PCT: A tent is setup at Harts Pass by the PCTA and word is that the trail is closed. It’s the “Easy” fire and the trail south is closed.
Knee Problem – Swelling: This morning I woke up with a sharp pain just to the left of my left knee. It felt like somebody hit it with a hammer.
Today I am going to the PCT northern terminus. I decided to leave my tent and all of my heavier gear at the campsite while I hiked north to the monument.
I felt like a yo-yo. The trail went up and down then up etc. This did not help my pace at all. In fact, my pace was just a little over 1 mph. Pretty pathetic.
The stay at the Lion’s Den went well and I got little sleep. I’m on the list to go to Harts Pass to start. This is the Washington first day of hiking the PCT
Night Before PCT Start: I catch my bus, and it immediately hits gridlock. The interstate is closed. I may miss my four hour ride to the Lion’s Den.
Today, I head for the town of Lone Pine. The plan is to hike nearly 9 miles to a side trail called Trail Pass and then down to Cottonwood trailhead.
