Tony's Hiking Adventure

The Avon, Silverton, Colorado

Today is the second of two zero days (no hiking). I probably shouldn’t have taken the second day, because now I’m antsy to get back on the trail and finish it. There are only 75 miles to go. I kind of forced the issue of a completion date today. I made plane reservations for August 7, so I’m going to have to average about 15 miles per day starting tomorrow. That will get me to the Colorado Trail southern terminus in Durango and then give me time to clean up and make the airport next Friday.

While in Silverton, I have enjoyed staying at the Avon Hotel. It’s in the center of town and close to everything. I did eat a lot – maybe too much. We’ll see if that helps me get some energy back in the next few days. In the mean time, here is some information on Silverton.
