Woke up this morning and it was relatively warm compared to other mornings. While eating breakfast, a deer came bounding out of the woods. She stopped no more than twenty feet away and just stared at me. Of course my camera was in the tent, so a picture was out. After about one-half minute of staring, she turned and left. Cool!

The day started above 10,000 feet and went up from there. Although I had my usual trouble breathing at the high elevation, I moved fairly quick with a distance goal in mind – Taylor Lake.

Somebody on the trail with way too much time on their hands.

The tough part of the day came at the end. There were two summits over 12,000 feet. Both were steep climbs with rock and stone fields to add to the difficulty and danger. About 4:30 I reached the second summit and began my decent to Taylor Lake where I setup camp.

And just so the day comes full circle, a deer came out of the bush and began munching on some leaves just as I was eating dinner.
