I decided to go back to Pine Ellis for a number of reasons.  I clearly had a stomach bug.  I couldn’t keep anything down.  Additionally, there were two days of rain in the forecast.  And last, I still had not recovered from the first day of hiking.

I began about 7:30 AM and had about 900 feet to go up.  I reached the summit at 10:15 AM and there called for a shuttle at 12:30.  The descent was steep and slow.  I fell once as part of the trail gave away.  For the first time I had to remove my backpack to get up.  I made it to the trailhead by 12:15.  As I crossed a creek, I slipped on a rock and went down.  That was embarrassing.  David from Pine Ellis helped pull my backpack up and I climbed out of the creek exhausted.  It appears the aforementioned stomach bug has weakened me.  Good choice getting off the trail for a few days to recover.
