I ate breakfast before getting underway. My energy level was down, and I was just plain hungry. The trail started out easy, but then came a 2,000 foot elevation gain. That had me huffing and puffing. Later in the afternoon the trail leveled off, and I was able to make some good time. I found a good campsite about 5 PM and pitched my tent. An uneventful day.
