Walking the Desert Floor

PCT Map Miles 541.6

I left Hiker Town at 7 AM this morning for a long hike across the desert floor.  The hike was interesting since it passed the LA aqueduct and for a good portion, walked on top of the underground part of it.  Interesting as well was the long, straight and flat trail that directed me toward Tehachapi.  It was because of the flat trail that I made excellent time toward my destination.  Only at the end did the PCT exact revenge and go up 1,500 feet.  UGH!

I reached my destination a little after 5 PM, the Taylor Horse Camp.  I was disappointed at its location and size.  I was expecting something bigger.  As it was, I had to squeeze in with two other tents in one of the few areas flat enough to sleep on.  Oh well.
