Hiking in Changing Weather
Weather forecast for tomorrow is rain, so I made sure that the tent was staked down good. It looks like I’ll be hiking in changing weather tomorrow.

Today I head out, leaving the Washington Alpine Club, and head for White Pass, which will be my next stop. There is a fire reported not too far from the Pacific Crest Trail near White Pass. I’m hoping that doesn’t detour my hike like what happened up at Harts Pass.

Finally! Snoqualmie Pass Trailhead. It was a ten minute walk to the Washington Alpine Club hostel. I checked in and the host made me a couple of hot dogs.

Most of the trail was filled with skree. My ankles were rolling and twisting on the rocks. I even fell several times. It was possibly the hardest hike ever.

Mya and Jack were set on making a push for Snoqualmie Pass, I won’t be with them. We have 21 miles to the Pass and a 3,000 foot elevation gain climb.

I ran out of water, but a source was a half hour away. After getting water, I headed to a Lake Waptus campsite. It is the only campsite for about 10 miles.

Today is the first full day from Stevens Pass. Before Meander dropped us off yesterday, he said this section was as hard or harder than hiking the Sierra.

Myself and four others are waiting for Meander’s return, so he can drive us to Stevens Pass. We are skipping 125 miles of trail due to fire closures and alerts.
A Zero Day at the Lion’s Den while a group of hikers and me figure out what to do with the trail closed due to a fire south of Rainy Pass.
Evacuated from the PCT: A tent is setup at Harts Pass by the PCTA and word is that the trail is closed. It’s the “Easy” fire and the trail south is closed.
